What's the Point of Blogging?

I started blogging because it's a requirement for my American Studies class, but I've come to enjoy planning and writing my weekly posts.  It's exciting to read comments that are made about what I've written and to see the number of people who have viewed my blog the previous week, especially if they are not from the United States.

I like how Linda Hewett explains blogging in her post Blogging? What's the Point....  She states that she blogs because she wants to communicate with others, teach, and encourage an exchange of views.  I enjoy blogging because it gives me the opportunity to expand on topics we only barely touch on in class, and it allows me to be able to give my opinion to people I know and don't know, in my class and across the world.  I can express my opinion about my religion, or what we're learning in class, or about everyday life.  Why do you blog??

  1. I think you bring up a great question. Like yourself i began to blog because it was an assignment in our American studies class. But I have come to enjoy blogging. Like you said it is like an outlet for my thoughts and a place to speak my mind and be heard by others. I find it interesting to hear a wide variety of peoples view about blogging. I know I was speaking to an adult who was well older and they believed that blogging was a way for people from our generation to tell people about our personal lives because our generation is "self centered". I disagree with that comment because it is a way to share and learn new information coming from other people. I think that blogging is very purposeful and I am very happy that our teachers have given us the opportunity to create our own blog and participate in this creative atmosphere.
